My Story

Mum, where are you?

Written by DANASKULLY

I write this as sit on my sofa with a lump in my throat. My wonderful Mum (87) has dementia and over the last couple of weeks, seems to be slipping away in the sense that she is really tired, and can't be bothered too much. She has and still is walking every day, she takes herself out for a couple of hours. She has done this ever since I can remember. I don;t think she eats too well though. She says she has lost her taste for food.

She used to play her CD's all the time and loved music but does not play them anymore.

I have organsied a couple of ladies from Anglicare to come and visit with her twice a week but she really doea not ike it. She has always been a loner and always feels as though people are talking about her and don't like her etc.

Her quality of life is tragic and I can't do a thing about it. I have to end this now as I can;t see enough to type. the tears are falling on my keyboard and my Mum is slipping away from me.

Please someone tell me this is not happening.
