Mum has gone.

Mum died a few weeks, ago, I was able to care for her
until the last.

I am glad she has gone, I would not have been able to
go on anylonger, she had vascular dementia, she kept
her personality until the last, although I had to feed
etc. in the last months.

She would have hated to go into a home.

Looking back, I hate the way some of the professionals.
by professionals I mean those in the so called helping
professions treat people with demential.

The way they treated her as if she did not understand
anything, the numerous mental tests, which served no
purpose, I was not planning to place her in a home
and I did not ask for any financial assistance,
Whenever she was in hospital, there was some excellent
staff, I guess you remember those incidents that leave you with a bad taste,
They would do all the things they are not suppose to do.
talk about her as if she were not there.
Discuss dementia in front of her .Oh its the dementia,
I had p.c workers and nurses say, in front of her as if
she was stupid.

They would keep her treating medically despite her
wish not to continue, she had insight. she beleived
it was time to go.

Anyway thank goodness she has gone, she left while
she still had some awareness of her environment.
