Mother...

I am an only child. My father died two months after my husband.
My Father and Mother lived alone with help from carers.
He was frail but very mentally active. My mother was diagmozed with dementia.
It was if he was the head and she the legs. Despite my concerns they lived lke this for many years. Fortuantely I lived nearby and was availbale if their was an emergency!

My dear Father died at 94 from a stroke. He died within 2 weeks. At this time I put my Mother into respite care . Then I had her living with me after his death,
but it was too much and I was advised to put her in a home.

I sold the family home and relocated her in a private dementia unit with a garden. The care is very good. each week I vist her and take her out to lunch as well as handling her affairs.

However, after two years of this her cognitive processing is getting much worse. Just a while ago I had a party for her 95th birthday . Whether someone put the dea in her head or not I don't know .. but she is now convinced I am selling my house and worried who will loook after her affairs.
The staff reassure her and we are waiting until she forgets the whole thing and moves on to another source of worry.

Meanwhile , I think I am going crazy...
