DementiaNet Community

This used to be an interactive area on DementiaNet designed to foster communication between people who are affected by depression. Due to strict interpretation of EU rules for the pharmaceutical industry's involvement in patient websites this part of DementiaNet has been closed.

The rules oblige pharmaceutical companies and their divisions, including the Lundbeck Institute to monitor all activities that take place on patient sites in which a company is involved, including private diaries and chat rooms.

The intention of DementiaNet was to allow patients to share their experiences in an anonymous and free environment. The new regulations require that all user generated content be closely monitored and that users are contacted regarding any adverse drug reactions and that they report these as relevant.

The Lundbeck Institute feels that these regulations are contradictory to the original intention of the website and has made the difficult decision to close the interactive community.
