Social Perceptions

Social perceptions are conveyed through social practices. We express our perceptions through everything we say and everything we do. That applies to society as a whole as well as to each individual.

It applies, for example, to the perceptions we have about how age and dementia are related, and what we consequently believe is the best way to help and care for people with dementia.

Perceptions about suffering from a type of dementia are affected by the type and quality of the services that are offered to people with dementia, whether they are public or private. These services have developed a great deal in the past 10-15 years.
