It may be difficult to handle gainful employment and be the carer for a person with dementia at the same time. Gradually as the disease progresses, it may become necessary for you bear the main responsibility for an increasing number of everyday tasks. It is less of a problem in the beginning, but it may become difficult later on.

Thus it may be a good idea to inform your boss and closest colleagues about your changing situation. Most are understanding and helpful at times when you need to go to a check-up at the hospital, for example.
