Home Aids
Home aids can be walking sticks, wheelchairs or a toilet seat riser, for example. It can also be personally adapted home aids such as glasses, hearing aids, prostheses, etc.
An occupational therapy assessment is very helpful to assess your needs. This can be accessed via your local ACAT. Call Carelink on 1800 052 222
You can also contact your local hospital and talk to the co-ordinator for the program of Appliances for disabled people.
Home Modifications
Home modifications may be necessary for your relative to continue living in their current residence. It may be a matter of removing door steps, shutting the gas off in the kitchen, etc.
