Handling finances is an area which can become problematic for the person with dementia to handle themselves over time. There are several options for handling finances effectively in the future.
It is a good idea to review the finances and consider what areas could be simplified so management will be easier for the person with dementia. If they deal with several banks, for example, it may be advantageous to consolidate all accounts, etc., in one bank. It may also be a good idea to make automated payments for recurring expenses.
Talk about who they would like to have help them with their finances if problems arise, and what type of help they would like in those circumstances.
