Quality of Life

(22-08-2005)

The definition of what constitutes good quality of life varies individually. Some people define a good quality of life as a good everyday life together with the family while others give higher priority to working life. Many relate good quality of life to enjoying good food and drink, spending time together with good friends, theatrical experiences, good finances, trips and travels, reading a good book, etc.,

As a relative of a person with dementia, it may become necessary to reconsider what you thought would provide a good quality of life in the future. Good quality of life can also come from everyday life experiences that were not significant in the past but have now become significant such as special time with your relative who has dementia.

You should remember to focus on maintaining the activities that provide you with quality of life you enjoy.

  • Think about what quality of life is to you, in the past and in the future.
  • Good quality of life prevents stress and depression.
