Non-Pharmacological Treatment

(25-08-2005)

Information about the disease, various social services and assistance are all part of the non-pharmacological treatment. The choice of non-pharmacological treatment depends on the individual's disease and social circumstances. Once you get over the shock of being diagnosed, it is often a great help to put a name to the disease - for the relatives, as well.

The non-pharmacological treatment can be effective throughout the entire course; for example, it may be a good idea to get the relatives some assistance. It may be in the form of help around the house or respite services.

Some symptoms, such as anxiety, may occasionally be brought on by conditions in the surroundings and thus can be "treated" by changing the conditions.

Finally, part of the treatment is considering matters such as ability to drive, living situation and pension or financial issues.
