Diagnosis
(15-08-2005)
When the doctor needs to determine whether a person has vascular dementia, he uses the same examination and tests that are used for other types of dementias. Read more here about how the diagnosis is made.
Diagnosis
In order to make the diagnosis, there must be a dementia that is due to vascular damage due to blood clots, bleeding or lack of oxygen. At least 10 different definitions of vascular dementia have appeared in medical literature since the 1970s. Many of the definitions are very similar. No international consensus has been reached on one single definition.
