The treatment, as with other chronic diseases, consists of:
No medication has been approved specifically for DLB. Studies have shown that certain types of Alzheimer's medication can be used and may have similar effects as for Alzheimer's disease. DLB may have very similar characteristics as Alzheimer's Disease, and consequently patients with DLB will often be offered Alzheimer's medication.
People who have behavioural symptoms or psychiatric symptoms may occasionally benefit from other types of medication such as antidepressants.
