Similar Conditions

Many conditions and diseases may be similar to dementia. If you suspect that you are suffering from dementia, it is important to be examined by your doctor.

Some conditions that may seem similar to dementia are: depression, confusion (state of disorientation), side-effects of certain types of medication and excessive alcohol consumption.

In some cases, it may be so hard to distinguish between depression and dementia that initially the doctor may choose to treat the depression and then wait and see if it is the initial stages of dementia.
