Well...it has been a while since my last entry. My mother in law passed away in February. She was a sufferer of dementia, as well as being ostricised from her family.
Even though my parents are being well looked after at their new facility, I am still angry at the closure of their old facility and the four weeks notice we were given to move them. Under current legislation, aged care facilities have the right to give two weeks notice of a closure. Two weeks....this is home to the aged we are talking about! If a tenant from rental properties is asked to vacate before their lease expires, they are to have 60 days notice.....so how is this fair for the most vulnerable members of our community?
No equity or social justice here!
