Today I went to the Hostel, got Ray all packed up and brought him home. We had morning tea, then off to the doctors, some shopping, blood tests for Ray and then home again. It felt like a marathon and this is just his first day home! But we needed to have the blood tests done today as we have to have the results by Thursday for the kidney specialist and urologist.
I enjoyed my holiday in Cairns with the family. The first few days I slept a lot as I had a virus and wasn't feeling the best. The weather was the usual hot and humid, wet and mild, windy and wild, typical of the tropics. But the dry days were beautiful and only four of the nights were humid so I survived. Both the grandchildren were especially pleased I was there and we spent a lot of the time together. We even got to see 'Horton Hears a Who' at the movies, don't know who enjoyed it most, my daughter or the grandkids.
I still haven't been out on the Great Barrier Reef but we did go to a couple of lovely beaches and picniced and walked on the beach and had lots of fun. I have been to quite few of the tourist spots in Cairns now as this was my third visit.
At the doctor's today he said I seem fine now, too late for antibiotics but he is going to syringe my ears out! Ouch! I just hate that. The good news was that both Ray and I had good blood pressure tests and he didn't want to do a blood test on either of us at this point. One less thing to worry about. He is concerned about a few issues with Ray but there are no ready solutions.
By tonight the novelty of being home was over and Ray was grumpy because he wanted to go to bed before I was ready to put him there. It seems that I have to get back on duty fast. Nine years since the major strokes on Saturday. What a long time since I have felt fancy free. Even while I am on holidays he is always on my mind.
At least I got the break away. Got to be grateful for that.
